Over at LAist this morning, Josh Strike tells a harrowing tale about having his laptop jacked by a couple of gangbangers while sitting outside a Starbucks in South Pasadena.
It’s a harrowing tale, that is, until Josh seems to cast himself in a real-life episode of “24″ and gets bogged down in paranoid conspiracy theories behind a simple snatch and grab … if it even happened at all.

Yeah, not so much with the DHS. Pretty ballsy to chase the dude, though.
The whole story lacks credibility to me, David. Gangbangers I know would’ve just put a cap in him.
Well, yeah. That too.
I also don’t think real gangbangers hang in South Pasadena and rip off laptops. And if they do, they make damn sure they don’t get their loot ripped back from them. I don’t doubt the fundamental of his story, just some of his impressions.
Ha! Glad to see I was not the only one who thought the story sounded totally made up and ridiculous.
