Porn As Activism Redux: Erotic Red
I know there’s a picture of a dead guy in the post below and now we’re going to explore something really … interesting. So just get used to it. It’s gonna be a grim week here at 8763 Wonderland and when you think about it isn’t there an intricate connection between that notorious address and porn and blood? Why, of course there is!
So, since you loyal readers appeared to so enjoy the link to my Porn As Eco-Activism article featuring Furry Girl I am proud to announce that Furry is back with a new activist porn venture! Are you ready? Don’t be drinkin’ a Snappy Tom when you read this, okay? Here’s the press release:
Shaking Up the Idea of “Extreme Content”, EroticRed.com Launches A Fresh New Perspective on Period Porn
SEATTLE, WA — From the 22-year-old creator of unique sites FurryGirl.com and VegPorn.com, comes the latest in adult entertainment that mixes porn and sex-positive politics, EroticRed.com. While not the first to venture into the taboo world of menstruation, the new site aims to be the best in showcasing a variety of personal red content from a pool of smart and sensual models.
Erotic Red contains a growing collection of homemade period porn and writings by amateur models of all shapes and sizes. Photo shoot themes vary from steamy sex and masturbation to fun with chocolate cravings and defacing ‘feminine hygiene’ ads in teen magazines. The site features the images and words of models who are passionate about menstruation, healthy sexuality, and independent porn, giving unique perspectives not found in mass-market adult material.
Most existing content in the period niche focuses on awkward scenes of women covered in fake blood or eating dye-soaked ‘used tampons’, catering to what male photographers think male fetishists would like to see. Erotic Red is operated by women who want to show off their own real-life sexuality and personal thoughts on bleeding, sex, and menstrual products.
“From a young age, women are taught that their bodies are dirty and messy,” Furry Girl said. “As we grow up, so many of us forgo sex during ‘that time of the month’. These stigmas exist to this day, and I hope that Erotic Red can help all genders to see that there’s nothing gross or shameful about cyclical bleeding and getting off on any day of the month.”
As well as tackling cultural taboos against menstruation, Furry Girl hopes to ruffle some feathers in the sex business, which self-imposes rules against periods in porn.
“It’s unfortunate that the adult industry’s love affair with pushing the limits in ‘extreme content’ only means creating material that is as violent and degrading as possible. Our society already loves watching violence, so it’s hardly innovative to include it in porn. Erotic Red represents the best in what the ‘extreme content’ and ‘alternative’ niches can be: unique, fun, and actively challenging nonsense stereotypes of what is and is not allowed to be a part of consensual sexual expressions.”

Ehhhhhh.
…
Pass!
I should have known better than to check out 8763 Wonderland while eating lunch.
I warned you!
I’m reminded of a section in Erica Jong’s book, Fear of Flying, where the only time a lover of the protaganist could reach orgasm was during her period…with a bottle, I believe.
Your blog never fails to surprise me.
In an odd bit of synchronicity, Adriana, I was just discussing Jong and “Fear of Flying” with a friend just a few nights ago.
I have nothing to add really, except for ewwwwwwwww!
Rodger, thanks for sharing!
Goodness gracious!
Mmmm, blood
